The Sep issue is now available on line.  It discusses our visit to the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners, MI in July, the need/importance of a pre-purchase inspection of classic cars and humor on wheels.

I hope you find it to be a good read ... .

Hi Dave,

I just finished reading your September publication about having cars inspected before buying.  I still have horror memories about the Olds I brought.

A while ago I sent you a photo of my Cadillac along with a friend's 1966 Deville that he had just imported from the USA.  The car looked great from the photos, and Hank thought he would fly through the certification process here in Christchurch.

The car was painted black, but once taken apart it was originally red as it was only painted on the outside.  Even the engine was red, which all Cadillac ones are blue.  Here is an email and photos he sent me on the repair process.  It goes to prove a point that when importing a classic car, a comprehensive inspection is essential.

Neale

[Ed. Note:  The photos showed severely rusted out trunk and floor pans]
