I really enjoyed the HVA survey. Although I fit in to the median age demographic I tended to drive my former collector car about 2-3K miles per year. I think it's a weather thing. We average 350 sunny days per year. I had the car 8 years and added 20k to the odometer. I also found it interesting that a good percentage had two. Personally I can only deal with one. Like a menu at a resteraunt if there are too many things on the menu I can't make up my mind. Two or more collector cars would drive me nuts deciding on which one to drive. Ha, Ha.

Now that I don't have one I only choose between the 92 Tbird and 92 Ranger. But, if I wait long enough in only 5.5 years they will achieve AACA status. Just think about it. The first Chrysler mini-vans now enjoy antique status along with AMC Pacer's, Gremlins, Vega's and Pinto's among many others.

I thought the HVA survey presented some really interested info/data about us.  One conclusion I walked away with was that we are an econmic force deserving attention.  After all, we do spend more than a few bucks on our hobby.

There was a time when I owned only 1.  Presently, the number is 3:

1955 Cadillac Coupe de Ville
1962 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88
1992 Cadillac Allante (Which does not really qualify)

In the 5 years we have owned the Olds, we have put 3,000 miles on her.  That works out to about 600/yr.

The Coupe de Ville has not even racked up 100 miles since being acquired.  I hope to change that this summer; having spent last summer rebuilding the carb.

Interesting that you mention Gremilins and Pintos.  I owned both; a '73 Gremlin and a '76 Pinto.  The Gremlin I totaled when it was only a couple of years young.  The Pinto I sold in 1987 with only 185,000 on the odometer!  To get there, I had to put on a new head and install new floorboards!
