Battery Replacement

Like everything else, when it comes to the Allanté nothing is simple.  I had to replace the battery, after the one in the car for 6 years died.

First off, the battery is located inside the car, behind the passenger seat.  That means it has to be vented to the outside.  That requires 2 things, a vented battery and a venting kit.

On taking the old battery out I noticed a) it was not a vented battery at all, and b) there was no vent plumbing in the battery compartment.

All these matters have been rectified.  I fabricated my own vent plumbing with the use of clear plactic tubing and a Tee.

Should some Allanté owner stumble upon this message, while in search of a battery, a correct replacment battery is NAPA Part # BAT 75100.

It's good to get that venting system correct. But, if you don't need correctness I would think a ventless battery such as an Optima would be fine.

Can you get it out of the garage yet? Is this the second failed attempt at top down cruising?

There seems to be debate among the Allanté community on the vented, versus non-vented.  Supossedly, even sealed batteries may vent gases?  I do not know how true that is?  What I do know mine is now vented properly.

Yes, I can indeed get her out of the car barn now.  What is needed now for a top down drive is some "top down weather!"

Gee, we did have a sprinkle on Monday. I think this year we'll have less than the normal 350 sunny days.
