Here is a message I received on another board, from a bloke in Ireland regarding U.S. rides:

There can be a pretty big difference between US collectors and Irish. There is too much bling in US classic cars - many altered to such a degree they have no originality.

Yes, I suppose we all have our own ideas on that.

One of the reasons I enjoy American classics is that they are unmistakedly just that .
If  these autos have "too much bling" , so be it .
Until recently, all we really saw here in new zealand were very unoriginal ,similar ,small and unblinged japanese autos. In the last 20 years  new zealand imported japanese cars , predominantly used , in the hundreds of thousands . They often failed  strict japanese emission tests and we picked them up cheaply.(Our emission standards have recently tightened up and less  of these  cars are arriving. )

Most people I know (and I am not ensconsed in the car world to any  large degree ) admire the effort that has gone into restoring and maintaining these old american cars.
They are often works of art . They are equally , history.
The more I learn about these autos , the more I appreciate these leviathans of the land .

Mike,

"Leviathans of the land," is that the same as a 'land yacht,' as we affectionately refer to them here in the states?
