Henry Ford was considered a genious by many.   When he needed lumber he grew his own, rubber?  He bought a plantation.  He wanted FOMOCO to be self sufficient and dependant on no one. Today that's really not true of any carmaker.  They get parts from all over the world. Now some of the plastics used on Fo...

No New Posts Rewriting Service
The quality of the written text is one of the most important criteria. Some students can easily express their thoughts on a paper and produce high quality written assignments. But those who do not have good writing skills find it challenging to produce and original texts, so they appeal to rewriting...

No New Posts Cars and aging
Wierd subject but it struck me this week as Chevrolet has turned 100. Americans have been on wheels since the turn of the last century.  Chevrolet's 100th birthday has triggered something in me.  I'm thinking because my parents were die hard Chevy owners since 1946 through their first purchase of a P...

No New Posts Future of Hobby (Preview)
It seems as though our political reps are going out of their way to make it difficult for us to carry on, let alone enjoy, our hobby? They have already taken the lead out of gasoline, added corn in place of it, and want to add even more (E10 to E15 to E85).  They are now removing zinc phosphate (ZDDP) from mot...

No New Posts Vehicle Records - Software (Preview)
As collector car fanatics, we tend to gather masses of information on our rides.  I am interested in what vehicle records software people have found useful, and why. It would be helpful if you could tell us the name, describe its features, likes/dislikes, cost if any and where one may obtain it. I'll s...

No New Posts A Weekend of Car Barn Activity
Well, I had a productive weekend in the car barn.  I flushed and bled the brake system on the Allante.  I replaced a broken fender script on the Olds, I fired up the 55 Cad, took her for a short spin, and waxed the sabre wheels and bumpers on her. All in all, a good weekend!

No New Posts Fall Colors car show in Bishop, Ca.
I think around the third picture there's an incorrect 1962 Chevy Impala.  Either it's a Bel Air converted to an Impala or much less likely that someone changed the roof.  The "bubble top" roof as they are sometimes referred to were only on the Bel Air in 1962.     http://img703.imageshack....

No New Posts I'm being published...again
Back in June 2010 my Cougar station wagon was in an article in Auto Restorer's Magazine. Now my Ford Ranger will be in the magazine.  Likely the August 2011 edition.  I just got notified by the editor.   It's been going through a "driving" restoration over the last couple of years.  Mainly...

No New Posts Barrett-Jackson 2012
The AZ extravaganza has begun: Last night a 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint Conv. sold for $6,000 more than a 1965 Ford Mustang Conv.! Did anyone, besides me, think that painting a 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood Sedan candy apple red and doing the interior in red crushed velour was an abomination?  Hardly represen...

Not a lot going on, what with it being pre-winter already in WI! Saved 62, the Olds was put up for the winter for a couple of weeks ago.  Auntie Pearl, our Allante, for which a car cover was just puchased, will begin her winter nap tomorrow. The Gray Lady will soon begin her period of hibernation.  Fir...

We took part in The Milwaukee Masterpiece Car Show "Club Day" this past weekend.  It was an interesting experience. The venue, being at Veteran's Park on the lakefront is fantastic.  The weather was great.  The cars on the show field were a notch or two above those seen at the normal-run-o...

No New Posts Liquid car polish review
I bought the Turtle Wax Liquid ICE car polish and thought I'd post my findings. For me it worked great!  There have been reports of it not drying completely but I had no such problem.  10-15 minutes at 95 degrees.  Although it says you can use in full sun I didn't try. 1.  I followed the instructions. 2.  I...

No New Posts The Style of Cars
I've often wondered how the style of cars evolved.  Was it function that caused the evolving style?  Or, would have they evolved naturally or even was it because of WWII and the eventual advent of jet aircraft? I think it's a little of all of these.  Did the cars get lower and wider due to the function of i...

No New Posts Collectible
Here is a message I received on another board, from a bloke in Ireland regarding U.S. rides: There can be a pretty big difference between US collectors and Irish. There is too much bling in US classic cars - many altered to such a degree they have no originality.  __________________________________...

No New Posts The Day in the Car Barn
The temps here in Milw yesterday were in the 80's!  So, the wife wanted to take the Allante out for the first time this year.  I get in, turn the key and let the fuel pump do its thing, along with the brake booster.  Then I turn the key to full on and nothing! Seems as though the Battery Tender clamp on the grou...

No New Posts Tires on old/older cars
I've had to learn again, through misfortune, that tires don't age gracefully.  My 92 thunderbird has only been driven 20,000 miles in the last 10 years.  Recently my wife and I purchased a newer car for her daily use so the Thunderbird went back in to more use as I'm getting older and the LX features all...
