I'm having a bad summer with my Fords. And they are only 19 years old!
On the 25th of July my Ranger's airconditioning stopped conditioning at 105 degrees. One hot ride home from work. So, I popped the hood and took a look. The compressor clutch was engaged and not cycling but the tubes to the evaporator were warm vice cold. Very strange as a cycling clutch would indicate a low charge. The high pressure hose off the compressor to the condensor was too hot to hold a hand on...that's correct, it should be hot. No reason not to produce cold air.
So, I parked it and drove the 92 Tbird to work for three days. This morning it's leaking engine coolant all over the place. Apparently it sprung a leak while in the garage overnight. Boy I hope it's not a heater core. Pay $800 for a mechanic to fix or $50 for me to fix. The trouble is the dash has to be removed thus the 8 hours of labor charge. AARRGG!
So, today I drive the Ranger to work even though the a/c is NFG (non-functional gear).
Once the sun was up I go out to the parking lot to take another look. Start 'er up, turn on the a/c and it's making cold air and the evaporator tubes are cold but now the cpmpressor clutch is cycling about every 20 seconds. Wow, now I'm scratching my head. I'm sure there will be more to this story. I'll have to borrow a gage set to figure this out. Could it have been a bit of a freeze up in the 105 degree heat. I don't know yet and how did moisture get in? Very strange. Sometimes I get very sick of old cars.
Hey, they are like the women in our lives, aren't they? They require/demand attention from us!
Dash removal does not sound like fun to me?
This weekend, for the first time, we took The Gray Lady ('55 Cad Coupe de Ville) to a show. It was about 50 miles away. The most the car has evern been driven at one time. In doing so, I learned quite a few things:
You aim the car down the highway and have to pay close attention to keep her on course!
People like the car, as they gathered around it, gawked and talked.
The heater, even though off, seems to be pumping out hot air when the car is running? Have to look into that one?

I got lucky it was just a heater hose with a pinhole leak. New hoses cost me $70. Some screwball engineer was on drugs that day. Just the three rubber pieces. I had to pull off the upper intake manifold to get at them.
All done. 3 hours total labor. $98.08 for three hoses, gallon of 50/50 coolant and an intake gasket.

Awesome point about the autos and Ford has outlined autos that resist traditions and surpass desires, pushing execution to the greatest to give you the best driving knowledge.
The relativistic impacts of time expansion are irrelevant to the space travelers and cosmonauts. The main factor extremely noteworthy to them is that they see 16 dawns every day, so they can't generally utilize the sun to get an exact time of day.
