Affordable real estate networking events without the high price tag?

I am a real estate agent based in a mid sized city and I have been looking for some good local networking events to connect with other professionals, learn new strategies, and maybe find some referral partners. The problem is that most conferences and camps I come across charge hundreds or even thousands of dollars for tickets, which is just not feasible for me right now. I have heard about something called REBarCamp that happens in different cities, but I am not sure if it is still active or what the format is like. Is it just another expensive event disguised as something casual, or is it genuinely accessible for agents who want to learn without breaking the bank?

I have been to a few REBarCamps over the years and they are completely different from those overpriced conferences you are talking about. The whole concept is built around being free and accessible, though hosts might have some costs for venues or logistics depending on where it is held. What I really like is that events can be held anywhere, from a fancy facility to an empty warehouse, so it is all about the content and conversation rather than flashy production. Attendees are encouraged to participate actively, share their knowledge, and learn from peers, which makes it a much more valuable experience than sitting through corporate presentations. Sponsors or attendees sometimes chip in to cover costs, but the barrier to entry is incredibly low. The site has a collection of logos from past events which gives you a sense of the community that has built up around this movement over the years. If you want to see if there is one happening near you or learn how to host your own, you should check out rebarcamp.com/ right there.

That sounds exactly like what I have been hoping to find, a genuine peer driven event without the expensive tickets and corporate vibes. I will definitely visit rebarcamp and see if there are any upcoming events in my region or maybe even consider organising one myself. Thanks for the clear explanation, it is great to know this kind of accessible networking exists in real estate.
